    SASEC will have two Board positions up for election at our 2023 AGM. Full Ordinary Members can be nominated for the Board by other SASEC members, and all nominations must be seconded by a SASEC member.

    Our AGM is on Monday 22nd of August and we are calling for nominations for the South Australian Social Enterprise Council (SASEC) Board. 

    To apply refer Board Nomination Forms,

    The membership of the Board is from ordinary members ensuring that SASEC will remain practitioner-led in its ambition to strengthen the social enterprise eco-system in South Australia and beyond.

    There have been 3 Board resignations, Paul Mayers, Eddie Blass Treasurer and Carmen Garcia and we thank them for their time in developing the Board’s strategic directions and governance in its first official year of operation. The existing membership includes Theresa Brown Chair, Monique Russell Secretary, Matthew Wright-Simon and Lisa Hill continuing as Board members.

    Within our existing Constitution, 2 Associate Members may be appointed by the Board. If you are an Associate member and are interested in becoming a part of the board, please express your interest in writing to the Secretary, Monique Russell. The Board will consider the EOI’s at its first meeting post the AGM.

    SASEC first social enterprise bus tour to shine the light on our own local social enterprises here in the western region of Adelaide.

    This event is in association with the Social Enterprise World Forum being held in Brisbane, Australia in September 2022! SEWF is the flagship event for the global social enterprise community, providing space for purpose-led people, policymakers, philanthropists, intermediaries and entrepreneurs to connect, learn and be inspired. You'll hear from Tom Allen of Impact Boom and the Social Enterprise World Forum Advisory Board as he reflects on his experiences and learnings from the growth of the social enterprise environment in Queensland.

    Meet the founders and leaders of a range of social enterprises at various stages of development, see what’s happening on the ground, expand your network and learn from others about business for good.

    This tour is a unique learning and networking opportunity and will give you ample opportunity to ask questions, connect with others interested in supporting social enterprises and touch, feel, taste and see some of the enterprises in action.

    Date: TUESDAY AUGUST 23, 9.00 am - 3.15 pm

    9:00am - Meet at the Foodprint Experience Cafe (111 Franklin St, Adelaide; adjacent to the Franklin St Bus Station) to grab a coffee, honour our traditional owners and hear from the founder, Melissa Rayner about her sustainable cafe.

    Stop 1 - Meet the team behind One Culture who will share how they create inclusive opportunities for people of multicultural backgrounds and those with disabilities.

    Stop 2 - Meet three social enterprises that are part of SA Group Enterprises - Blend Creative, Electronic Recycling Australia and Bounce Back to learn how they create meaningful employment for people with disabilities and divert waste from landfill.

    Stop 3 - Enjoy a delicious lunch at the Healthy Living Precinct, hear from Rapid Enterprise Development (RED) founder Guy Turnbull and wander around a pop-up marketplace of social enterprises.

    Stop 4 - Our last stop will be to an Indigenous enterprise - stay tuned for the announcement!

    3:15pm - return to the Franklin St Bus Station and say our goodbyes!

    The awards are back!

    The world has changed. So has business.

    Some ideas are game changers and buying from social enterprise is one of them. This year our awards will showcase the pioneers demonstrating that social enterprise procurement is catching on. Let’s celebrate the innovative social enterprises, businesses and governments leading the charge in #Business4Good.

    The theme: Social procurement game changers

    This year the awards will showcase how social enterprise procurement is catching on around the country.

    There will be four region based award winners:

    • Social procurement game changer - VIC/TAS region
    • Social procurement game changer - NSW/ACT region
    • Social procurement game changer- NT/QLD region
    • Social procurement game changer - SA/WA region

    With one overall national winner:

    • Social procurement trailblazer - National

    Member applications now open

    Awards are open to our pioneering members who are leading the charge for better business. We’re looking for joint applications from one or more certified social enterprise/s and one or more of our business and government member/s. Your application should show how you are leading the way in social enterprise procurement. Check out below for more details on our key selection criteria.

    Finalists showcased at national and state celebration events

    The award winners will be determined in collaboration with our partners at Australia's social enterprise state and territory networks. The four region winners will be announced at celebration events in Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney, co-hosted with our sector partners.

    All winners will be invited to join us at the Social Enterprise World Forum, where the national Social procurement trailblazer for 2022 will be announced. The national winner of the trailblazer award will be decided in collaboration with the Social Enterprise National Strategy team. This winner will have showcased the most innovative and impactful outcomes against the award criteria.

    The four Social procurement game changer region winners will receive a free ticket with expenses paid to join us at the Social Enterprise World Forum this September. The national winner will be invited to join us on the main stage for a panel discussion on best practice social procurement, to a global audience. All national winners will receive a digital promotion kit to showcase and celebrate their achievement.

    SEWF22 program is now available, it's a powerhouse of amazing social entrepreneurs, social enterprises and a number of Aussie innovators and trailblazers.

    Daniel Flynn, co-founder of Thankyou, Kate Raworth, internationally recognised economist and author of Doughnut Economics, and Clothing the Gaps  co-founder, Laura Thompson are among the first speakers to be announced for the Social Enterprise World Forum 2022 (SEWF22) to be held in Brisbane, 28-29 September.

    Flynn, Raworth and Thompson are part of an impressive line-up of speakers over the two-day program which includes a mix of expert keynotes, masterclasses and panel discussions centred around key topics including climate change, Indigenous social enterprise, innovation and policy.

    Beyond SEWF22 on 28-29 September, there are a number of fringe events including a Youth Forum for under 30s, an Academic Symposium, SEWF Rural Gathering, and Social Enterprises.

    SASEC is proud to announce its first democratically elected Board and the key roles of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer following its first AGM earlier this month. The new Board consists of Theresa Brown (Chair), Monique Russell (Secretary) and Eddie Blass (Treasurer) and Matthew Wright-Simon, Carmen Garcia, Lisa Hill  and Paul Mayers.

    SASEC was initiated by Dr Sharon Zivkovic alongside the founding Board members including, Sarah Gun, Theresa Brown, Vita Maiorano and Evelyn O'Loughlin who have worked diligently over the last two years to establish SASEC as an incorporated organisation and attract its members’ base. Today, over 48 social enterprise Founders, and organisations make up the membership base across a range of industries from recycling, health and wellbeing to employment.

    New Chair, Theresa Brown also a founding member said, “we look forward to driving social innovation, building a supportive ecosystem and expanding opportunities for social enterprises in our state"

    Nominations are Open for South Australian Social Enterprise Council Board

    We are excited to be opening up nominations for the South Australian Social Enterprise Council (SASEC) Board today, 8th of April.  

    This is a key milestone for South Australian Social Enterprises as it marks the establishment of a membership elected board for South Australian Social Enterprises, ensuring that SASEC will remain practitioner led in its ambition to strengthen the social enterprise eco-system in South Australia and beyond.

    All 7 Board Positions are available for election at the SASEC AGM in May, with Theresa Brown, SASEC Treasurer and Evelyn O’Loughlin, SASEC Public Officer standing for election.

    Full Ordinary members can be nominated for the Board by other SASEC members, and all nominations must be seconded by a SASEC member. Nominations will be accepted until COB 22nd of April

    Board Nomination Forms are available here, and outgoing Board members, Sharon Zivkovic, Sarah Gun and Vita Maiorano will be available to connect Nominees with other SASEC Members as needed. People need to be nominated by 2 other members and if you don't know 2 other nominators Sharon, Vita and Sarah can assist with introductions. Nominations will need to identify whether they will nominate for a 2 or 4 year term (in line with the Constitution 7.3(2)).
