Business for Good Code of Conduct
The Business for Good Sector Development Program 2025-27 is an initiative of the Government of South Australia’s Office for Small and Family Business and the South Australian Small Business Strategy 2023 – 2030. Delivered in partnership by the South Australian Social Enterprise Council (SASEC) and Collab4Good, the 2-year Business for Good Program will support South Australian (SA) small social enterprise businesses with key business fundamentals to strengthen their knowledge, capacity and capability to deliver social, environmental and economic outcomes for SA with long-term business sustainability and growth.
The Business for Good Program includes the following key activities:
1-1 coaching
Group mentoring
Workshops
The Business for Good program exists also to build a community of South Australian changemakers (social enterprises and purpose-driven businesses) who learn, collaborate and grow together.
This Code of Conduct sets out how we create and protect that space: one that is respectful, inclusive and focused on shared learning and impact.
All program activities are guided by the following principles:
Consider accessibility in everything we do.
Everything with a social and environmental impact and sustainability lens.
Collaboration is central to all we do.
Acknowledge First Nations culture in all we do.
Balance transparency with privacy.
Celebrate the wins.
Treat diversity as an asset, not a target.
Complement, don’t duplicate.
Prioritise relationships as our most critical assets.
These principles shape how we work, learn, and show up together.
Our sessions - whether workshops, coaching, or group mentoring - are spaces for mutual learning, honest sharing and collective growth. We each bring experience and expertise, but we also come to learn.
Participants are expected to:
Contribute, not dominate - share your knowledge generously and listen openly to others.
Stay curious - approach discussions with humility and a willingness to learn from peers.
Respect boundaries - keep discussions within the group confidential unless consent is given.
Act with integrity - participate in good faith, not for commercial gain.
Uphold psychological safety - ensure others feel heard, valued and safe to contribute.
To protect the integrity of our community, participants must not:
Attend sessions with the purpose of selling, promoting, or recruiting clients.
Present themselves as a coach or expert to teach others, unless formally engaged by the program.
Extract materials, ideas, or content from Business for Good sessions for commercial use or replication without permission.
These activities compromise trust and the collaborative intent of the program. Participants found to be engaging in such behaviour may be asked not to return to future sessions.
We value openness, but we also protect each other’s privacy.
What’s shared in the room stays in the room, unless explicitly agreed otherwise.
Be mindful when sharing stories or challenges - avoid disclosing others’ information.
Respect diversity of experience, culture and perspective - including First Nations worldviews, lived experience and different business stages.
We believe in compassionate accountability.
If a participant’s behaviour breaches this Code of Conduct, facilitators may:
Give a gentle reminder during the session;
Follow up privately to discuss the concern; and
If needed, refer the matter to the Program Coordinator to decide on next steps.
We are here to learn together and that includes learning how to show up in community.
At its heart, Business for Good is about learning through collaboration, celebrating diversity, and building impact together.
By participating in this program, you agree to uphold these values and help create a safe, generous and purpose-driven community for all.
